Welcome to the White Rose. It was constructed circa 1885 after the railway arrived in 1847.The railway was built in an open area of fell and farmland called Applethwaite.the nearest farm was called Birthwaite giving its name to the railway station and village.In 1859 the residents began to call their new village Windermere much to the dissmay of the people of Bowness which had been the centre of the parish for many centuries.

We offer 5 en-suite bedrooms, comprising of 3 doubles, 1 larger double and 1 twin.All bedrooms have their own private shower rooms with fresh towels,television, extensive hospitality tray with kettle, hairdryer, alarm clock and  fold away table and chairs.

Situated in the North of England, Windermere has rail links with London, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow with mainline trains stopping at Oxenholme. We are only a 90 minute drive from Manchester Airport and  Liverpool Airport.
If you are arriving by car there is on road free parking opposite and several other roads within the vacinity that are free, failing that there is a carpark opposite where charges will apply. Windermere is cenral for visiting all the beautiful surrounding towns and villages.It has a regular bus service taking you to Keswick, Grassmere, Ambleside to name a few, and many other scenic places {we have bus time tables}. If you would prefere a guided tour then we have leaflets for you to chose from,we can also help your decision with advice.We can book any tour for you.They do full and half day tours,they pick you up and drop you off from the White Rose.

With our Lakeland hospitality, comfy rooms, and a delicious breakfast to set you up for the day you will be able to venture out to see the towering mountains, peaceful lakes and the stunning beauty of the area, which should make your trip to the Lakes truly memorable!

Breakfast is not included in the booking rate.However if requested upon arrival then an additional cost applies.

All stays are a two night minimum stay.
